I finally finished watching the E3 2013 conference; they were part that got me interested while other disappointed me.  E3 2013 is the year where both Sony and Microsoft revealed its console and show their games for the PS4 and XBoxOne respectively.  Be aware that I am a "Sony Guy"; however I will give my thought on equal ground.  The question is, who won this year's E3 2013, what are my thoughts of the conference, and how will it make my decision of what console should I get for the next generation.  Keep in mind that E3 2013 is mostly about Microsoft vs. Sony, Nintendo did not do a conference so I can not put it on the same category.

First on the schedule was Microsoft and it was a big improvement from last year.  Re-cap, last year, MS showed Kinect games, entertainment, and Usher promoting Dance Central 3, most gamers who tuned in at E3 2012 did not care for it.  Now with E3 2013, MS showed games that are for hardcore gamers, they were some games that interest me and there are some that did not.  First announcement was that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will also coming to the XBoxOne, the game looks good and then a free-to-play for World of Tank, unfortunately gamers must be a Gold Member, so I do not think it is free at all.  MS also showed a 3rd model of the Xbox360 to complement the XBoxOne's looks, in my opinion, there is really no point, showing games for Xbox360 is interesting, but how about XBoxOne games.

In the MS conference, they actually showed games for the XBoxOne.  They learned their lesson from last years, this time it's about games and XBoxOne offers games.  There were games that actually intrigue me such as Killer Instinct, a fighting game from Rare.  Finally the 3rd installment of the series, fans were demanding it and MS delivered, as for how the game will be; only time will tell.  There was one problem with the presentation, when the male presenter was playing against the female presenter; he said something that offended me.  I did not like the sexist, basically, jokingly it may be, it showed how women do not belong in the gaming industry, and the male presenter probably did not mean it, but it still any excuse.  In the KI3 presentation, MS showed new feature to Smartglass, sound interesting it may be, but it really not useful and the integration of Twitch TV may be good, just like PS4 shared feature.  Dead Rising 3 was announce, not really a fan but I played the previous games and I can tell why fans would love the game, unfortunately the game will only be on XBoxOne, in this time of age, 3rd party games exclusive are gone, in place are 3rd party exclusive contents.  Project Spark looks like MS answer to Little Big Planet; it looks like it integrated with Smart Glass, might be good for gamers who love the creative genre.  Crimson Dragon is a dragon game and it is being develop by the same people who developed Panzer Dragoon, it look good, but unfortunately no sound.  There is a game from Insomniac, who also made Ratchet and Clank series, it looks interesting, the idea of people from the suburb battling mutants.  EA showed Battlefield 4, I may not like the FPS genre, but the game look nice, but the presentation was awkward.  The person who tried to present the game had some technical difficulties and I notice the presenter's attitude changed, probably embarrassed.  In the end of the presentation, the presenter did not look happy.  The games so far worth getting an XBoxOne, but the final game may convince some to really get the console.  The game was Titan Fall, a new FPS genre from Respawn, it look interesting, the idea of using giant mechs in a FPS game is something new, I may not like it, but for FPS fans, they might check it out.  In the end, they announced the price, it was $499.99, in my opinion it is steep to what it offers and with the DRM problem, most consumers are hesitate to get one at launch.

The conference itself is better than last years.  MS showed games and that's the key point to selling the console.  Even it was a big improvement, I have to give the conference a 6 out of 10.  The reason is there were some technical difficulties, especially the Battlefield 4 where the presenter at the end just acted unprofessional.  The other reason is the Killer Instinct presentation, even if it was a joke; it was still inappropriate trash talking.  Overall it was a good conference, but mishaps was not pleasant to watch.

Sony's conference was worth watching, and for a "Sony Guy" I could not wait what they will offer.  The Sony conference had a better showcase in my opinion.  In the beginning of the conference, Jack Trenton talked about the future of the PS3 and PSVita.  Both will have games, from both 1st and 3rd parties.  Now the main event of the conference is the PS4.  Sony finally unveils the PS4, it is a black prism box, just I suspected.  Sony then showed what games will be on the PS4, and in my opinion, there are games that gave me a reason to get the console.  Sony showcased games that were shown at the Playstation Event, but in more detail, then they showed new games and some of them are new IPs.

Sony showed new IPs for the PS4.  Order 1886 is one of those new IP; it looks like an alternative steam punk world where you are fighting demons.  During the Sony conference, they also showed new Indie games or downloadable smaller games and most of them are new IPs.  Sony stated that the will support Indie developers and published there own game, some of the games they showed I was interested such as a remix of Odd World and an old school game from the developers of Scott Pligrim.  Square-Enix made an appearance at the conference and unveiled Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a game that was in development for too long, and revealed that it will now be Final Fantasy XV.  Kingdom Hearts III finally announced and the crowd goes wild.  Kingdom Hearts III was one of the most demand games from gamers and kept asking game experts when it will come out since 2006.  Both do not have a release date, but at least it was finally announced.  Ubisoft showed more game play of Assassin Creed IV, unfortunately it was stuttering and at the end it crash.  Watch Dog was showcased once again for the 4th time, just showing new things about the game.  The main event was Destiny and they finally showed game play, it will remind gamers of Halo, but the game look nice.  Then Sony finally addressing Gaikai, DRM policy, and online situation on the PS4; Sony announces that Gaikai will start the service on 2014 streaming past Playstation games.  Jack Trenton announced that the PS4 will not have DRM and it will not require connecting online 24 hours, as a result the crowd showed ovation that the console was for the gamers.  In the end, Sony announced the price, $399.99, a hundred dollars lower than the XBoxOne and once again the crowd cheers.  The Sony conference in my opinion was worth watching, the information they shared gamers wanted to hear, and for that I give it a 9 out of 10.

The reason for the 9 out of 10 because the games were more interesting to me than what the XboxOne offered, they offered games from different genre.  Sony explained about Gaikai allowing to stream past Playstation games, addressing of DRM and 24 hours check up, which both do not exist.  When Andrew House showed the PS4, there was an interesting part that he did, there was a Sony employee who worked of the console handed to Andrew House and then when he was showing the console, he invited the employee to take a bow on stage for contributing to the PS4, which showed class.  In general, Sony's conference was for the gamers, knowing that it might hurt their business; they still wanted to please the consumers.  Sony gave me a reason to keep my eyes on the PS4.  With a 9 out of 10 score of its conference, this makes Sony the winner of the E3 2013 conference, good job Sony.  I will keep my eyes on you and see what happens in 2014.

Part 2 will be my thoughts on the other conferences from Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Nintendo, which they did not do a conference, rather did a Nintendo Direct which showed games for the Wii U, stay tuned.

I'll be addressing "Nintentube" and how will it affect the Megamix Game Showcase. If you didn't know, last week, Nintendo stated that all videos on YouTube that show Nintendo 1st party games will be claimed copyrights. This means any YouTubers who post game play(s) of Nintendo games will claim copyrights and if it's monetized, it will go to Nintendo; this will affect mostly Let's Players who monetized their video.

So what does this mean to me and the Megamix Game Showcase?

If you still don't know what is the Megamix Game Showcase is, it's videos of me trying out games and posting them on YouTube. It may look like a Let's Play, but it's more of a Showcase. Let me explain, the main objective of Megamix Game Showcase is to show games whether it's classic or modern, I do a game demonstration so people (and gamers) know more about the game. The inspiration and idea came from when Nintendo introduce the Virtual Console on the Wii, since some gamers never heard of Nintendo's past console games. Now what will happen to the Megamix Game Showcase?
Nothing, I will still keep doing Megamix Game Showcase, I enjoy doing them and I want share it with the gaming community. I didn't sign on YouTube to make money, yes I enable monetizing, but I can tell you that I'm really not making a lot, for me, the way I define monetizing on my YouTube channel is like a street performer with a bucket on front for people to give money as an option, for me it's just extra money on the side. It may be a little bit disappointed that I'm getting less, but it's not the end of the world, not a big deal. I'm not forcing viewers to pay me or ask for money. The ads are just there if viewers choose to watch it, if you're offended, by all means, use ad-blocker, it's your choice; I can't do anything about it. In overall, I don't make a living on YouTube, it's a passionate hobby that I like to do, no one is paying me to do this, it's my choice to being with and once again, if you're offended that there are ads on my videos, I apologize for the inconvenient.
To re-iterate, I will still continue to make Megamix Game Showcase and it will include Nintendo games, monetize or not. I'm doing it to share my interest on videogames, this is voluntary on my part, with that, stay tuned for more showcase and also more updates. One will be about the Gamer Horizon on E3 2013,

and the other is what I'll be doing on E3 weeks. Later…
